| Creating a dissertation is totally different from writing an undergraduate thesis. Although the purpose of writing them is the same, students in the doctorate level need to step a notch higher because of their current education status. Students need more complex thinking and innovative ideas. They need to look for undiscovered angles of a topic and present the case in the most formal document possible. For example, PhD students in any field must present their study that will either approve or disapprove previous research findings. To be unique, find a topic for dissertations that will not only interest a number of people, but will also contribute something to the community.Take note to think critically.A dissertation is not merely a presentation of researched facts from previous studies but it gives insight on the principles learned. These principles may either support or reject a previous study. In addition to that, the student must provide supporting facts each time he or she writes a statement.Remember to define terminologies.It is necessary to write cohesively for a dissertation. Correct punctuation, proper tenses, use of active voice, and grammar construction are already a given. Remember that there should be no room for errors in terms of the technical aspect of writing. It is also mandatory to define technical terms to determine the meaning of a word or a phrase used in the context of the topic. Definitions of these technical terms may come from previous studies. In describing statements or evidences, avoid using empty words such as ‘good’, ‘bad’ or ‘nice’ to mention a few.Finally, remember to make the whole dissertation original, as the final test does end in the submission of the document but in the presentation during the panel interview. The doctoral committee’s job is to find anything suspicious or lacks information in the dissertations.
